Description

In 1951 six vacation homes were build in vacation parc ‘Hessenheem’ in Markelo in the Netherlands. Gerrit Rietveld got the contract to design these vacation homes. These were the first six trials. These vacation homes were meant for employees from ‘De Vries-Robbé-Albatros Superphosfaatfabrieken’. (phosphate factory)
These are less known designs from Rietveld, however you do recognize his distinct way of design. Only six were build no more. In 1989 volunteers refurbished one of these six vacation homes and in 2007 this one was placed in Openair Museum Arnhem in the Netherlands.
